This steer is twelve months old. He’s doing fine on all the grass we have. He’s not as stocky as I like but he’ll fill out.
Front view:
We’re finding good results with steers at around 24-28 months, but that varies between animals. I’m also wondering if the yearlings we have now (born in 2013 like the guy above) are better developed than the yearlings we had a year ago.
This is old cow 78, whose real name is Peste which is unfortunate given she’s the cow that I think looks the best in the herd. Not bad for a fifteen year old. Her calf is called Jaegermeister.
This is Je Vais à Rio, who is certainly the meatiest calf we have.
He’s named after the French translation of I Go to Rio.
RIP Claude François.
[Parental note – there are some very small 70s bikinis in this clip. No way my daughters are wearing anything like this down to the centre de loisirs.]
🙂 Good dad! Good looking cattle and I LOVE that last photo! So beautiful!
Yes, keep those daughters in order, but you do know they will hide thise 70’s retro bikinis under the pilgrim dresses you make them wear, until they are around the corner!
